Five days in Phuket with kids : Island which has everything…

Hello all,
Phuket is the largest island in Thailand, almost Singapore’s size. This island has everything for everyone. From adults to kids, it will never fail to amaze you. We spent four and a half days in Phuket, but that’s the minimum required time here. And so many things were left for us to do because Phuket has so much to offer with a wide variety of attractions.
I hope this itinerary can help you plan yours and give you some basic ideas. And yes, this trip was with family and was totally kid-oriented.
Day 1:
We arrived at Phuket at noon, so without wasting much time, we went to explore the beaches.
The three main beaches are Kata, Karon, and Patong.
We first went to Three Beach Viewpoint and then headed to Kata Beach. You can go beach hopping or can stay at one beach like us.
We went to Kata Night Shopping Market, a colourful street with a variety of Phuket souvenirs. There is one Indian restaurant also where you can have dinner.
Day 2:
See mesmerizing sunrise at Big Buddha. You can read more about it here.
Then, head off on a sunset tour of Phang Nga Bay.
Day 3:
We explored Andamanda Water Park. We went there at 9:30 so we could avoid the heat and crowd. It is one of the best parks in Phuket, with thrilling rides. They have Garuda sliders with free fall with heights that will definitely scare you, Phuket’s longest lazy river, Giant splashing buckets, Awesome body slides with serpentine turns and scary heights, large Andamanda Beach with waves as high as 3 meters, slides with near vertical fall, shotgun slide and finally Thailand’s first water roller coaster with impressive turns and falls.
Once you take an entry pass, you will have unlimited access to the park. For lockers, you have to pay additional charges. The bathroom and restrooms are clean, with a blow dryer in the shower area.
Outside food is not allowed, but they do have a few vegetarian options in the food court with one Indian counter.
Go early, so you will have plenty of time before the crowd starts. Plenty of sun beds are there, as well as private cabanas to rest. They also have villas if you want to stay. For the water park, we had made a prior booking with Klook.
In the evening, we went to Prometha Cape for a fantastic sunset. We had an excellent Italian dinner near Patong Beach. There are many traditional Italian restaurants also.
Day 4:
We had an early start today and went on a Phi Phi island tour. There are many options for this tour. Our taxi company arranged ours, and we had a fantastic experience. Phi Phi Island, per se, requires one separate post. Maybe I will write that soon…This was a hectic day for us, so after Phi Phi, we had no stamina to visit anywhere else..
Day 5:
You can opt for An Elephant sanctuary or a Thai cooking class or can even go to an adventure park for an ATV ride and zipline.
In the evening we went to Old Phuket town. Now, this is the experience you can’t miss. If you are an architecture fan who loves to see Sino-Portugese buildings, then this is the place you must visit. You can read all about it here.
Best time to visit Phuket:
November and April – are the best time because it is the dry season.
May and October – monsoon season, it can rain anytime, and water conditions might turn scary. However, the prices will be much lower during this time due to the off-season.
How to get around in Phuket?
We were 12 people so the best option was to hire a taxi. We booked a cab with Alex Taxi service, and they provided us with an excellent 12-seated and fantastic driver. He was with us for late night dinner and early sunrise also.
Another way is to hire a scooter if you are comfortable.
Other places you can explore:
- Wat Chalong Temple
- Cashew nut factory
- Muay Thai fight.
- Elephant Sanctuary
- Jungle ATV ride and Zipline
- Bang Pae waterfall trek
- Simon Cabaret
So, Phuket has something for everyone and is one of the best touristy places…In this Phuket itinerary, I have tried to include all aspects, including beaches, recreational activities, and Thai culture. We didn’t attend any show because we were not keen. I have not included Thai massage because we indulged ourselves in Krabi. But many foot massage parlours exist in Kata streets and main Patong Street.
Tell us about your experiences too..
Thank you..
