Tobogganing : Racing across the snow
Hello all,
Do you want the thrill of speed on the snow slope?
Do you want to feel the adrenaline pumping through your veins at each turn and twist?
But you don’t know how to ski? Snowboarding is also not your cup of tea. Then you can definitely try this one.
Toboggan is a long, narrow vehicle for sliding down the hill over snow or ice. The longest Toboggan run in Europe is located in Switzerland in the Grindelwald. But this is the longest Toboggan slope in Finland, situated in Kaunispää Fell at Saariselka ski resort.

It is filled with thrill, adventure, amusement, and excitement. The panoramic view of the city with snowy slopes all around with trees is nothing but a dreamscape.
Shaurya was on cloud nine with all amazement. The steep sections and acute turns are nothing but a lightning adventure. The speed, the wind, and the snow coming to your face will take your breath away.

Specifications:
It is compulsory to wear a helmet in the toboggan run
It would help if you also used Ski goggles to avoid getting snow in your eyes. We didn’t use this, and it wasn’t easy at some points.
Wear snowproof clothing if possible.
It is not advisable for younger kids. At least the minimum age is 7 years, as some turns are really challenging. Satva was not very kind to do once we reached the top, so he returned to the Ski shop via the chairlift with Papa.

How to reach:
You can reach the bottom of the Saariselka resort, and from there, you have to buy tickets for the chairlift. You can get to the top of the Kaunispää fell by chair lift near the Ski shop. From there, on your left side, there are toboggan slopes. The resort maintains this slope and is open only during lift opening hours.
How to rent Toboggan?
There is a rental shop at the base of the chairlift.
Do we need a pre-booking?
No. Pre-booking is not required if you don’t want a guided tour. But yes, if you want to do it with a guide, it is better to book ahead. I am sharing the link for the same.

There are three slopes:
The red: Moderate difficulty level, and you will reach the ski center
The blue: it is relatively easy with gentle twists and turns, and you will reach the village.
The green: It is the easiest; again, you will reach the ski center.
Total length: 2000 m with a vertical drop of 1300 m.

Other activities:
This place is one of the best in Lapland for skiing and snowboarding.
There is a restaurant on the top of the hill.
They also organize the Aurora Tobogganing at night. The activity occurs daily in winter, but they only arrange it for Friday during spring. The nightscape of Saariselkä city lights is a treat to the eyes, along with the illuminating pathways with artworks of toboggan runs.

It would not have been possible if we had an amazing person MR David who accompanied us and made this possible. So, if you get a chance to do this thrilling activity at any place, don’t think twice; just slide down!!!
