Arctic Snow Hotel : A Wonderland in Lapland
Hello all,
Ok so here is the thing! I am becoming a master of procrastination. Telling kids and advising them about not to do it, to becoming master of it needs dedication I think!!
But seriously we went to Finland in March and still I have at least 4-5 blogs pending in that series…
Why? I don’t know. Visiting family in the USA and staying with parents and sister for 21 consecutive days make you lazy, I think. But now as we are back and back to our routine quotidian life, we can’t wait to start our Sunday magic! But before that, I will try to finish all the blogs of Finland. So if you are looking for any local blogs, you have to wait for one more Sunday. And I promise to be regular on that!
So in March one of the most exciting places we visited was the Arctic Snow hotel. And it is an experience you should not miss while visiting Finland.

Location:
It is 27 km from Rovaniemi city centre.
The location is far from the light pollution of the city, in pure wilderness, so your chances of seeing the northern lights increase here! And that’s why we suggest visiting at night. There are options available on GetYourGuide and Viator for a hotel tour with dinner and breakfast options.
We took a tour with dinner, and I think it was the best decision. It was on our last night in Finland, and we saw spectacular and possibly the most colourful lights of the season on that day. Ranging from green to pink to red to purple…

Transfer:
If you take it as a tour with a meal, the transfer is included from the Scandic Polar Hotel in Rovaniemi. The bus arrived on time, so try to arrive 5-10 minutes before the scheduled time. The bus journey is very comfortable. They drop you off at the same place at night. And we arrived pretty late at night. But luckily, our apartment was just a few minutes away from the hotel, so it was easy for us.
But if you are planning to stay at a hotel, then you have to manage your transfer.

Timings:
They make it entirely from ice, so the hotel doesn’t open till mid-December and stays open up to the end of March. They built it every year with a new theme and new ideas for all rooms. The glass igloos are available for longer stays.

About the hotel:
The tour is guided and they will brief you about the buildup of the hotel and their process of operation along with special features in a detailed and interesting way. It is one of the most unique hotels we have seen up till now. Each room has different themes and artistic decorations. The ice sculptures along the lights blew our minds away. The chapel was fantastic, and so was the bar and ice restaurant. But we recommend eating in a Kota restaurant by the fire rather than an ice one as it is more comfortable with kids. And if lights are happening during your dinner you can easily go out. The servers were kind enough as they regularly announced as soon as the lights started appearing during our meal. The dinner was also amazing, especially the soup and dessert. For the main course, Kids’ dish was better than us. Shaurya loved sliding down from hill again and again while we were busy watching Auroras.

So if you are visiting Lapland in winter and spring, don’t miss this tour. It is one of the spectacular hotels. The rooms are magnificent and worth seeing with kids and family, and if you are lucky, just like us, to get clear skies, then chances of watching the Aurora are pretty high!!
Wow. Amazing. I don’t think I can survive at this temperature 🥶
Yes.. it was extremely cold but totally worth it… and talking about staying there, I can’t even think about it..
