Chamara : A Magical Sunrise At River Mahi

Hello all,

It has been a long time since we have witnessed a beautiful sunrise. Last, we watched an amazing sunrise at Sandakphu, and many things have changed since then. But today, we were hopeful to witness one. And what better place than the Mahisagar River?

There is something magical about sunrise and sunset. They do something to us imperceptibly yet divinely. A gentle stroke of the wind can do a miracle to your soul. A slight sound of leaves can awaken a lost mind. That first ray of the sun May soothe our hearts, and that lonely bird, going for the hunt, flying all alone in the gigantic sky, leaving the babies behind, can stir up many emotions. And we strive for such scenes, such moments. Moments like these pull out the strings of the guitar of life in such a way and create such beautiful melodies that we might forget our sorrows and our sadness for a while.

As Paulo Coelho quoted, “When each day is the same as the next, it’s because people fail to recognize the good things that happen in their lives every day that the sun rises.” And we need to witness them more frequently, diligently, and enthusiastically for our betterment. They are daily occurrences, but never are sunrises or sunsets the same. And they will make you speechless every time if only you have the patience to witness them calmly.

We beheld such a sunrise today. Chamara is a small village near Umeta, after the Sindhrot Bridge. The river bank is isolated from the town, with a small temple on the river bank. As usual, we were the only people there. There was fog on the opposite bank, so we were unsure about the sunrise. Mystical colors started to appear in the sky, which has the ability to make you silent. Sometimes, we don’t need to say anything. We want to be in the present, engulfing every moment, capturing our consciousness, and awakening our conscience. This was one of those moment. The colors were becoming more vibrant and more confident as the morning awakened lazily; the mist above the river was slowly dissipating, and we were recharging ourselves.

I was not sure about the sun. The phone call from home made me impatient, and I almost forgot the purpose of our visit. I almost started to go back, and there it was. The sun appeared as a small crescent behind the small hillock. The nature really teaches us to be patient. To be calm. To be observant. To be grateful. To be diligent. And there, at that moment, in those tranquil surroundings, we got energy for the entire week. And once the sun was up, the sun’s reflection in the river caused sparkling sunglint, which was as alluring as the aurora in the sky.

So, take some time from your ubiquitous life and spend with nature. You don’t have to go far from your home. It’s just a quiet place with your loved ones. Trust us, this solitude in nature is meditating.
