Dharsimel Waterfall : Scenic fall with peaceful vibe

By Kajal Shah Gujarat

Hello all,

Happiness comes with the softest knocks on our door, while problems come with loud music and a DJ. That’s why we fail to recognize small moments of merriness and become anxious in the chaos of complications. And when happiness comes after hardship, it is more significant and enjoyable. This Sunday will be one of the most memorable trips because of this. While going to Dharsimel waterfall, our car got stuck in a muddy path. With exceptional help from villagers and our efforts, including kids who were ready to remove mud under the vehicle with tree barks, we could remove the car after 45 minutes. So the journey after all these efforts was more satisfying.

Dharsimel is a known waterfall near Vadodara. The waterfall is located in Dharsimel village. The road to the villages is well maintained and you can easily take bike or car there. The location is perfect on Google maps. The village is quiet, with small hills all around and serene greenery. The hills are lined with trees in their initial autumn phase with dull brown to light yellow dried leaves. Some leaves were in shades of green and brown both with mesmerising reticulation.  Small hillocks with trees under grey clouds was sight to behold!

We parked our car just before the nala, but the villagers told us we could take the vehicle uphill to PHC. The trek is approximately 1.5-1.9 km, with narrow trails at places. The tracks were muddy in areas because of the rain. The initial part of the trail is easy, with a narrow and rocky path in the last part. We had to cross a small stream, and that experience was thrilling!

And then the fall! It was one of the most majestic waterfalls we have ever visited because you can literally stand under the fall! The force of fall depends on the recent rain. The flow was great today, with roaring sounds and mist in the surroundings. We reached early, so there was no one when we arrived at the fall. While we were returning, we met three large groups. So, if you want the waterfall to yourself, start your day early.

Points to consider:

  • Please do not litter and keep the place clean.
  • Take local village kids with you as they are your best guides because the trail becomes confusing at places. If you don’t get one, take the left turn at the initial two turns. I have attached the pictures of the turns.
  • Wear proper shoes, as the last part of the trail is rocky.

    Take left turn here.

once you see these shacks, take left turn here also.

As you reach this rivulet, which is also a source of waterfall take small right uphill turn.

Total trek distance: appx 2 km.

Total distance of Dharsimel from Vadodara:  112 km, 2 hours 50 min

So don’t miss this fall while Monsoon is going on. We are sure the journey of almost three hours is worth once you reach the site and stand under the fall!

Don’t forget to share this post.
