Dhuvaran : A beach not in your reach…
Hello,
Yesterday night we watched 83 movie…yes! Again!. Some movies are like emotions. They can’t get older. They can’t get repetitive. You feel them. You cherish them. For us, 83 is like that. It is my and Satva’s go-to movie. Even any single scene, and we are back on track. It is like homoeopathy medicine, where a small dose can do wonders, but you are not sure whether it is entirely because of the medicine.

Similarly, Mother Nature is the best therapy one can ask for. Show us sunrise or sunset, and we are exhilarated. Give us a waterfall trail, and we are in your debt. Take me to the river bank, and I am sorted. So we go to rivers whenever we are confused. This is how we went to Dhuvaran Beach because we were confused.
We got a river, and we got a sunrise! (not actually because we were a little late!!) but it must be amazingly, incredibly, astonishingly and stunningly beautiful!!

It is not exactly a beach, but it is a river bank where the Mahisagar River opens into the Gulf of Khambhat. To go to the river bank or beach, you have to go through the GSECL power plant. You have to enter your name in the register and provide your details. Entry is free. Dhuvaran Thermal Power Station is a decommissioned oil and gas power plant. The power plant was under the ownership of the Gujarat state Electricity Board. This was the first power plant of the Gujarat Electricity Board.

There are three temples just at the river bank, and if you want to go to the beach, then you have to go through the temples only. One is Doshli Mata (Kunta Mata, Pandava’s mother) temple, Mahisagar Mata temple, and Dhumneshwar Mahadev temple. The temples are serene, peaceful and clean. There is a small temple on the beach, Pandavas Mahadev temple, which gets submerged during high tide.

Suppose you are going at the time of high tide or just after that (like us); then it is not much of a beach for you because the tidewater comes up to the temple steps. A few people were taking a dip in the river, but beware and please confirm with locals before going into the river. The beach here is a black sand beach at the time of low tide, just like Kavi Kamboi. In fact, it is just at the opposite bank of Kavi. There is a small store at the main gate of the temple where you can get water and refreshments.

We sat quietly on temple stairs and in the small garden on the temple premises. The sun’s rays were shining brightly on the water and reflecting, giving us all hope and energy for the upcoming week! This is what we thrive on every Sunday morning…We were a little late. But if you want to visit this place, we urge you to come at sunrise. Don’t miss it…

There is another Mahadev temple just beside these three temples, and you can have a beautiful view of the river from there too.

Exactly it’s a spiritual and nature but I think it’s Kavi kamboi?
Any the places and the temple you visited are really amazing
Thank you uncle. It is on the opposite bank of Kavi Kamboi. We went to Kavi Kamboi last year. it is equally amazing. Here is the link to it.

So it’s a river front / temple / sunrise point
Beautiful description dr kajal
Yes! all in one. For spiritual as well as nature lovers…
Is there a walk way ?
We can figure it out from the pics that it’s a perfect place for everything
Village , railway tracks and yes peace !
You can walk along the river bank when there is low tide. But during high tide you can’t go beyond temple steps. Railway tracks are one the way to Dhuvaran. And yes it is a perfect place!
Mesmerising and yeah it’s quite lonely despite been a temple !
Kudos to you for penning down pros and cons
It was not at all crowded when we were there. Can’t comment during the day and evening time. But it was peaceful. Thank you.
