Ghodi Faliya Waterfall : Hidden Gem in Pawagadh
Hello all,
Our week is going so fast that we can hardly make any plans for Sunday! With Pandal hopping for the Ganapati festival and Das Lakshan Parv At home and with coming term exams, time is going with lightning speed. We missed our Sunday outing last week because of social commitments, but today, despite late-night crazy chats and long talks, we did not miss this Sunday morning! And an impromptu plan of the waterfall trek was made. Thank God we did!!
Today, we went to a hidden waterfall near Pawagadh. It is on the back side of Pawagadh and relatively less explored than the famous Khuniya Mahadev and Gupteshwar Mahadev. Mind well, this time, it was like SafarwithMeeSha. As Satva and Shaurya slept late yesterday, we went with our sisters.

We started a little later than our routine Sundays. But in retrospect, I think it was better as the trail is relatively isolated, and you have to have one local person with you, and you don’t want to wake up them for your trek. The drive up to the fall is easier if you go from Halol bypass (We returned from that route). while going we went via Narmada Canal and Tajpura side which took little longer. Near the end of the drive, we had to ask a few villagers as it was a bit confusing.Â
One thing is sure. This trek is not at all advisable for solo trekkers. Go in groups and better go with a local village person. It’s better to do it with the person who has gone there a few times. And for the first time in these years, we met villagers who were reluctant to come with us as our guides. We don’t know the reason. The village nearby is Ghodi Faliyu of Gopipura. I have shared the link to the parking spot below. Upto there you can easily follow the map. From here, after asking a few persons, we were finally able to convince one young boy to come with us.

The initial path of the trek is flat and from the fields. The corn fields had wild plants with narrow trails in between and the experience was terrific! We met a few youngsters who were coming back as they lost the trail despite coming there many times in the last month. So you can imagine that the trail is a bit confusing.

After a while, the main part of the trek starts where it gets rocky and you have to cross small Streams three times. At one place there is a proper river crossing with large rocks. At the other two, you have to be careful.

And come the last part, where you have to cross giant boulders. You literally have to climb them and go to the other side. At places,it was quite challenging. We just stopped 100 meters before the fall but Sheel went till last with our guide. But the view was breathtaking from where we were sitting.

If you want to go in the fall you have to cross the plunge pool and it is not advisable according to our your fellow as it is quite deep at places. According to villagers, it is risky to stand under the fall as there are incidents where rocks have fallen from above. So better to be safe than to be sorry.

Along the way, there is one diversion where you can go to another waterfall. I think that waterfall is marked as Monsoon Secret Waterfall on Google Maps. We have marked the waterfall which we visited as Ghodi Faliya waterfall now. So you can check it.Â
Distance from Vadodara: 47 km, appx 1 hour 10 minutes.
Total trek distance : 2.7 km one way.Â
Trek terrain: Through the fields and boulders with few river crossingsÂ
Trek level: Moderate

Points to consider:Â
- Don’t go alone.Â
- Take any local person with you. If they are reluctant, assure them that you will give them money. And if they accompany you please pay them according to your wish so they will be motivated to help others like you and me.Â
- Please don’t litter. It is one of the few trek where we saw least plastic along the trail because it is one of the Least explored waterfall. Let’s just keep it that way.Â
- According to us, it is not advisable to take kids as the trail gets difficult in the last part. But the choice is totally yours.
- Your most of the trail is along the stream, so wear proper shoes.
