Narmada Sub Canal Waterfall : Serene Small Waterfalls

By Kajal Shah Gujarat

Hello all,

Let me take a break from lovely Lahaul Valley this Sunday and take you to the vicinity of Vadodara. Many of you must be thinking that we might not have explored the places in the last few weeks, but we were going to the same places again with our friends and family.

With the increasing use of technology and social media, we are now feeling more close to each other and yet more lonely! It seems that some Threads connect us with quick chats with the entire world, and some Insta Reels might take you the unknown beautiful places, but in the end, when we lay on our beds, what matters is when were we happy during the entire day? Is it while seeing views and likes of your reel on Insta, or replies on your Thread, or while sipping tea on your balcony, or completing your long pending book? Were you happy seeing the post of a so-called friend, whom you barely knew or seeing the innocent smile of your kids when they look at you at the school gate? It is time to rethink our simple pleasures.

Sunday mornings are pure bliss for us because we try to find happiness in the things which don’t cost a penny. We try to feel the connection between us and Mother Nature. The only connection that matters! And to be at peace with oneself and to feel completely grounded, we have to go to Mother Nature. Just dance in the rain barefoot on lush green grass, or sit under the waterfall, hug a tree or take a walk in the woods! Simple yet so so significant!!

So today we went to Narmada Canal near Halol. Yes! yes, we already had our very first post about this place, but today we went there at a small waterfall. The waterfall is at the sub-canal of the main canal. It is near the little village with name of Navi Vasahat on Google Maps.

You can park the car on the side of the main canal. There are roads in the village, but they are narrow, and you might not want to trouble the villagers by parking your cars on the roads. They won’t mind it, but it is always better not to trouble locals unnecessarily.

We also did the same. We parked our car on the opposite side of the canal. From the main Canal Road, you have to walk appx 2 km from the village, and the fields and farms, and you will reach the small cliff.

There are three cascades of falls, and you can sit in between one of them. Just be careful of the algae. The stones might be slippery. The trails were also slippery and muddy because of the rain the previous night. We didn’t know the exact way, so we were following the directions of the villagers.

Don’t follow the Google Maps route because it will take you to the road, which ends at the private property. I have marked the path which we took in the picture below. Just follow Navi Vasahat.

Points to consider:

  1. The place is very neat and clean, so please don’t litter.
  2. Monsoon is the best season to go to this place. water might not be clean in rest of the season.
  3. If it is raining, wear shoes as you will be walking in the fields, and it will be muddy.
  4. You won’t get any food or water on the way so please take it with you and bring back all the plastic. The place is so clean, we didn’t see any single plastic there and let’s keep it that way.

Google location: https://goo.gl/maps/vnZH7QZiKvouxsYS8

Just follow the marked route and you will reach to the falls easily.

So that’s t from our side. We wanted to go to place within an hour reach from Vadodara so this was our best option. Let us know if you have already visited this place and share your experiences.

Thank you.
