Road to Heaven : Drive to Dreamworld
Hello all,
I have read somewhere that good films make us hold our breath while simultaneously taking our breath away. But the great ones allow us to exhale. This is true for everything. Places. Food. People. And the Road to Heaven will definitely want you to pause, to stare in the nothingness and exhale!

It is part of the highway from Ghaduli to Santalpur. The stretch is 30 km of pure bliss! Pure serenity with sea and white desert on either side of you! The endless expansion in front of you… You don’t know whether it will end or not.. And in a way, you don’t want it to end. It is like a good fiction book you don’t want to end. Still, you can’t wait any longer for the last part…

I met the manager when we left our resort in Dholvaira early in the morning to watch the sunrise from Road to Heaven. He told me that it is divine. It is something else. Whenever he wants to feel something, he goes there; whenever he wants to be numb, he goes there; whenever he is confused, he goes there; and whenever he wants to calm the chaos of his mind, he goes there. And I envied him for easy access to this place. Honestly, the place is inconceivable at sunrise. The colors of the sky and their reflection in the water are magical! Yes, Magic is the only word that comes to my mind. Nothing can be so dreamy apart from some fantasy. If you feel I am exaggerating, have a look yourself.

The highway is still under construction, but now they allow you to travel from Dholavira to Dhordo, both ways… It is like the Road to infinity, with an endless landscapes on either sides. You don’t know where the horizon is, where everything mingles in harmony, and you just skip your heartbeats!!

Lewis Carroll has said, “If you don’t know where you are going, any road will get you there”. And here, you do not want that road to end. You do not want to reach the destination. All the elements of nature, the endless sky, the serene water, the chameleon-like sand, the calm wind, the mesmerizing moon, the rising sun and finally, the best part, hundreds of grey flamingos…Yes, they were grey when we visited. Initially, we thought they might be some other birds, but later, we found that they could be of grey colour.

There is also one small island on the road, you might think that road is ending but it is just a small island known as Tingri Bet. You can get down and take some beautiful pictures on the white sand.

Best time to visit:
The road is different in all season. If you want to see the beauty of the white sand then winter is the only time.
Things to do:
– Drive endlessly, aiming for nothing but gaining everything..
– Trust me when I say this: you will find a better salt desert here than Dhordo… Dhordo is very crowded and commercialized; here, you will see the desert’s vastness and feel its peace.
– Watch the sunset and sunrise! These are two pure blessings you will witness and feel blessed.
Points to consider:
Drones are already prohibited.
The Road is so gorgeous that you want to get down and click pictures or want to sit silently, but please don’t do that when the rosh is heavy…The Road is less inhabited during sunrise.
Sunrise
Sunset
Please, please don’t litter…It is up to us to maintain the beauty of this place.
Don’t miss the sunrise! It is the hope we all want, but it becomes faith on the Road to heaven.

So, this is a short post but in our hearts the place has deep impact and we are sure it will do the same to you. Or if you have already visited, this post will surely take you that emptiness.

Hi
is it accesible by road or walk or u need to take taxi
am kirtis friend in banglore and wish to visit this place in march
recently Kirti suggested your blog when u mentioned about kutch and lucky am that u posted this today
can u guide accesibility from ahmedabad
and u have any contacts for stay as we are there for 3 nights
ehsaan !
Thank you so much for following. Yes yes it can be easily covered in 3 nights. It is better if you can take taxi from Ahmedabad so it is easy for you to travel within the Kutch, as it is a big district. Regarding accommodations, depends on where do you want to stay? There are options like tents, regular resorts or traditional Kutchi Bhunga. We stayed in Bhunga.
I will update about Rann and Dholavira soon. If you want more details let me know will send you email.
Lovely
Thank you.
