Valvod : Where serenity meets spirituality…

By Kajal Shah Gujarat

Hello all.

How are you? I hope you all are fine, wherever you are, and doing whatever you love. It is the most satisfying feeling, doing what you love. People say you must be in a profession that you love. But is it possible for all of us? NO!! Because life happens, and along with it, stuff happens. As they say in French ‘c’est la vie’. And you can’t escape any of it. But seriously, when was the last time anyone asked you about what you love to do? Apart from your profession, your parenting skills, your cooking skills etc… When someone has asked about the real you? About your passion? Staying in a concrete jungle might mask our emotions and our passion. And when we can’t get what we want in our present, we dive deep into our past. To feel nostalgic.

Nostalgia is a strong emotion. Those childhood games and giggles, those homemade dishes, those songs, and movies…it takes us into our memory store. It depends on us, and what we select. It is not wrong to watch reruns of F.R.I.E.N.D.S and Sarabhai, and it is entirely okay if you want to listen to some songs repeatedly. Read those books again and again. Some might say spread the wings and expand your boundaries… but why? We all seek comfort, and for comfort, we might want to dwell in the past. The real skill is molding our future and present with that past. And nostalgia gives us optimism and positivity for that. It recharges us to fight with today and tomorrow. It gives us strength for acceptance. Acceptance of euphoria as well as disappointment. Acceptance of victory as well as defeat. Acceptance of letting it go. We learn to endure our challenges. As quoted in ‘The Little Prince’-“Well, I must endure the presence of a few caterpillars if I wish to become acquainted with the butterflies.”

It happens to us every Sunday. If we don’t go for our Sunday morning outing, we bring nostalgia at home!!! Watching those videos of our past trips … telling and listening to stories of those trips. And this is how despite missing this Sunday trip, we are still as energetic as shooting stars on Monday morning.

We went to Valvod one Sunday on the banks of the Mahi river. The serene calm water and sunrise were the sights to behold. That rising sun’s rays were soothing on a chilly winter morning. Reflection of those colors in the water took us into a state of tranquility. If you are planning to go, don’t miss the sunrise. It is a visual treat.

The road to Valvod is easy to find, and you can take a car till the end. You can also have a boat ride. We did while watching the sun rising slowly in the sky, spreading its colors and giving us hope and energy. They will take you to the island. He also asked if we wanted to get down on the island, but we didn’t.

Valvod is also famous for its Jain temple – Shree Chandramani Prabhu Jain Tirth Dharmasthalaya. The temple is beautiful, peaceful, and serene, and they have a small kids’ play area. There is a huge garden with aryuvedic and medicinal plants and a viewing deck for seeing the river Mahi. There is no bhojanalay or dharamshala in the premise, for that you have to go to the main temple in the village .

So that was our short trip to Valvod. What are your triggers for nostalgia? Let us know.

Thank you.

The Buddhists or the Jains do not depend upon God; but the whole force of their religion is directed to the great central truth in every religion, to evolve a God out of man.
I hope your blog reaches to all younger generation who wish yo pursue nature beyond religion
