Best card games during travel

By Kajal Shah

Hello all,

Sorry, we are not as consistent as Mahendra Singh Dhoni, but with term exams of kids and Navratri, our trips are also on a mini vacation. We hope that you all must have enjoyed Garba. We had super duper fun and you must be knowing that from our bombardment posts on Facebook and Insta page.

Today I just want to share the card games we play, No No! we are addicted to when we travel. These games are fun for vacation times with cousins also. And our kids love them at home and during travel.

GUESS IN 10

These are our to-go games. We have almost all in the series, collected over the years…Our kids now enjoy it more because they know nearly all cards and make us sound dumb by asking us all those questions… These are the most exciting games to play with family and friends. There is no age bar. You can play with your younger cousins as well as your grandparents. They are best for gifts too!!.  They are filled with fantastic content and include bright-colored cards. They love to play this with their friends during monsoons when they are stuck indoors.

UNO and UNO FLIP.

This game doesn’t need any information, and it is a classic family card game played worldwide. And yes, don’t forget to shout “UNO!”  while you end your game…

Games to improve visual skills:

Blink!

It is known as one of the fastest card games and our favorite game. You just need to match color, number or pattern, and Boom! You are the winner. Play your cards properly with lightning speed without blinking in between and that’s why – The Blink!! Among us Satva always is..

Farrago

Be the first player to form a sequence of 7 cards with at least one object common with the adjacent card.

Explorers:

One of the indoor games where kids have to find the things printed on the card.

Games to improve word power and vocabulary:

Forbidden:

You have to describe the guess word to your team members without using the Forbidden words. It is not as easy as it seems.

Tango

One of the best game to make them learn proverbs. Learning proverbs is made easy through this matching and memory game. This is a great family game inspired by a traditional Japanese game played among families!

Rhyme chime:

You have to answer the three riddles on the card with three rhyming words. First, one to do so will get the card. Our kids love this.

Around the word:

Kids have to make words from jumbled letters.

Few other fun games:

Taco, Cat, Goat, Cheese, Pizza

Players have to race against each other to SLAP a match between a card and spoken word. Beware! You have to be attentive and you have to be fast. And yes! our minds always play tricks with us in this game! There is no need to join laughter club once you play this game…So are you ready to pick a pile?

Simon says:

One of the best games with typical Indian touch in each card. You can play it again and again and never get tired. It is fun game for birthday parties also.

Geography games:

  • Usborne travel cards
  • Fact O Mania – Indian Monument
  • Geokraft

We got all three of them as gifts. These are great for geography games. These are Nice fact cards that can be used in a number of ways.

Cricket card games:

Shaurya got one of these as a prize in his IPL quiz game and one of it was a freebie.

Regular playing cards.

Kids love Mindi Kot, Gadha Chor, and Napolean in this!

Flag games:

We have these two amazing games and I exactly don’t remember from where I have got them but Flag Frenzy is the game which we have played the most. It is the game which was our companion in the scary night at Dzukou Valley and during our camping at serene Dayara Bugyal trek.

So these are our collection of card games collected over the years. Many of these cards we have got as freebies and some as birthday gifts. We have lost and destroyed a few. But we can always get them as Diwali and Christmas gifts!!

So make travel a fun family time with these fantastic games, which are easy to play and carry but will make memories of a lifetime for you and your kids.

PS: Most of these games are readily available on Amazon India, and they regularly have offers on them.

That’s it.

With Lots of love,

SaSha.
